2023 FEEDING HOPE FUND FOR CLINICAL RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM

The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is committed to providing help and hope to those affected by eating disorders. To this end, NEDA’s Feeding Hope Fund for Clinical Research aims to support projects that will improve the lives of individuals and families affected by eating disorders.

CLINICAL RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM AND USE OF AWARD FUNDS

NEDA aims to be a meaningful funding organization for clinically relevant human participant pilot studies focused on eating disorders. It is understood that the resulting preliminary data from these pilot studies is typically part of a larger research plan that leads to further funding through federal agencies and foundations, which have the capacity to support more substantial, definitive projects.

Of interest to NEDA are research projects, covering the broad spectrum of eating disorder diagnoses, that can be translated to clinical care and/or applied prevention strategies within one to five years; basic science research projects will not be considered at this time. In addition, NEDA is keenly interested in research projects that address participation from underserved community members, and projects that will translate increasing access to treatment for marginalized populations.

In 2023, NEDA will issue an open inquiry for Letters of Intent and then will invite a select group of investigators to develop a full grant proposal (see timing below).  In 2023, one grant in the amount of $125,000 and two grants in the amount of $50,000 will be awarded (funding spans two years.) Priority will be given to Early Career Research applicants.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CLINICAL RESEARCH GRANT

Investigators who are United States citizens or lawful permanent residents conducting research at institutions within the United States at the time of submission are invited to apply. We encourage applications from eligible individuals from groups that have been shown to be underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, social and clinical sciences. The candidate’s research track record and other sources of funding will be considered when selecting awards.
