Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) is the largest and best-known eating disorders outreach effort in the country. EDAW is an opportunity to improve public understanding of eating disorders and their causes, dangers, and treatments and to empower everyone to reduce risk factors and join prevention efforts.
When you volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge about eating disorders, learn useful professional skills, and form connections with members of a vibrant and welcoming community.
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, which promotes and celebrates dignity, equality, and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. Research shows that LGBTQ+ folks are disproportionately affected by eating disorders, and too often, they face barriers to treatment and recovery. #NEDAPride is a social media campaign that recognizes those barriers, encourages self-acceptance, and promotes body diversity for all!
May 6th is #NoDietDay, an annual social media campaign to encourage the rejection of diet culture. This movement, started by Mary Evans Young in 1992, celebrates the importance of body acceptance, diversity, and respect for all body shapes and sizes.
